Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is a big tech company from the U.S., based in Santa Clara, California. It started in 1969 and makes CPUs (central processing units) and GPUs (graphics processing units), which are important for computers. AMD’s products are used in gaming, data centers, AI, and other areas. Also, they are known for their Ryzen processors, Radeon graphics cards, and EPYC server processors. AMD focuses on creating advanced computing solutions for both everyday users and businesses.

For more than 50 years, AMD has been making high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies better. AMD creates top-tier, adaptable products that push the limits of technology.

AMD Fiscal Q3 2025

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) earned a record $9.2 billion in revenue. Its profit margin was 52%, with $1.3 billion in operating income and $1.2 billion in net income. Also, earnings per share came in at $0.75. Both earnings and revenue came above estimates.

  • Data Center revenue rose to $4.3B, up 22%, driven by strong demand for EPYC processors and Instinct AI chips.
  • Client revenue hit a record $2.8B, up 46%, thanks to strong Ryzen processor sales and a richer product mix.

  • Cloud Expansion: AWS, Oracle, and IBM are adding more AMD-powered servers to handle growing AI and computing needs.

  • New Products: AMD launched powerful new PC chips and gaming tech, plus upgraded processors for industrial and edge devices.

Outlook

For the fourth quarter of 2025, AMD expects to make around $9.6 billion in revenue, give or take $300 million. This would be about 25% higher than the same time last year and 4% more than the previous quarter.

They also expect their profit margin (excluding certain costs) to be about 54.5%. This estimate doesn’t include any sales of their Instinct MI308 chips to China.

Boards Statements

AMD Chair and CEO Dr. Lisa Su, reported a standout quarter, achieving record revenue and profitability driven by strong demand for its high-performance EPYC and Ryzen processors, as well as its Instinct AI accelerators

She highlighted the company’s third-quarter performance and optimistic fourth-quarter outlook as clear indicators of AMD’s accelerating growth, fueled by its expanding compute portfolio and rapidly scaling data center AI business.

Jean Hu, executive vice president, CFO, and treasurer, noted that AMD delivered record quarterly revenue of $9.2 billion, up 36% year-over-year, and achieved record free cash flow.

She emphasized that the results reflect the strength of AMD’s product leadership and disciplined execution. Hu added that ongoing investments in AI and high-performance computing are driving substantial growth and positioning the company for long-term value creation.

Impact on the Stock Market

Despite delivering record-breaking third-quarter earnings, AMD reported $9.2 billion in revenue, up 36% year-over-year, along with strong profitability and free cash flow.

However, shares fell nearly 4% following the announcement, as investors reacted to stretched valuations and signs of cooling momentum in the broader tech sector.

Analysts pointed to AMD’s high price-to-earnings ratio and the absence of revenue from China-bound Instinct MI308 GPU shipments as factors contributing to the pullback. Even with solid guidance for Q4 and expanding AI partnerships, including major deals with OpenAI and Oracle, market sentiment remained cautious.

While AMD’s fundamentals are strong, its stock may be vulnerable to short-term corrections amid broader concerns about an overheated AI rally and tech valuations.
